Payment Info & Utility Rates

Below you will find information on payments, payment options provided and a breakdown of our current utility rates. We do our best to keep all information below updated and accurate at all times.

*Please note* – No service charges can be paid online. Please contact the office if service has been disconnected. Do not pay through the 800 number or online if your service is disconnected. No return checks, services charges or miscellaneous charges can be paid online. These payments must be mailed in or brought to the office.

Payment Information

Our online payment portal and telephone payment system is hosted by Nexbill Pay and has no affiliation with the DOXO bill payment site and is not responsible for payments made through that site that have not been received. We do not recommend you paying your bill through the DOXO site. **After the 25th you should call our office before paying online to avoid disruptions.**

We have partnered with EFEXSYS to extend an additional payment option for customers interested in using their debit card, or credit card to pay their bill. EFEXSYS is a trusted third-party automated payment service that allows you to pay your bill online.

  • What is the service fee?

EFEXSYS charges a service fee to cover payment handling and all processing charges. A service fee will be calculated and disclosed prior to finishing your payment.

  • Does Shady Grove Utility District keep any part of the service fee?

Shady Grove Utility District does not keep any part of the EFEXSYS service fee. EFEXSYS is a separate entity providing a service for all the customers of Shady Grove Utility District.

IMPORTANT: If your account is delinquent, disconnected, or in the disconnect process, you MUST contact our office BEFORE you make a payment. This includes any payments made after the 25th of the month. Services will not automatically be restored or disconnection prevented if payment is made without contacting our office FIRST!

Shady Grove Utility District is not liable if you receive a call, text, or email about a delinquent balance and do not call our office before making payment. Your services may be disconnected and will be subject to a reconnection fee. If you are disconnected, your account balance plus a reconnection fee will need to be paid in FULL before services are reconnected. If you are currently disconnected and make an online payment, your utilities WILL NOT be reconnected unless you contact our office to inform us of the payment. Shady Grove Utility District allows up to 4 p.m. the day of disconnect to restore service the same day, any payments made after 3 p.m. will be reconnected the next business day.

No return checks, service charges or miscellaneous charges can be paid online. These payments must either be brought into the office or mailed to the office at P.O. Box 830, Dandridge, TN 37725.

To pay your bill over the phone please call 1-800-608-8254.

The Shady Grove Utility District customers now have the option of paying their utility bills with a credit card over the internet. Customers may also elect to have their utility bills e-mailed to them as opposed to having them mailed to their home address. Getting started is easy. Just click the on-line utility payment link. You will need your correct customer account number and your current month or previous month’s meter reading to get set up. The utility accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover transactions.

The utility’s on-line option also allows customers to view their current utility bill and payment and usage history with just a click of the mouse. We are pleased to provide this service to our customers. Please contact our office at 865-397-3790 if you have any questions.

If you prefer to setup automatic bank drafts to pay your bill each month, you may complete and return the required bank draft form along with a voided check available here: Bank Draft Form.

To remove yourself from automatic bank draft you must print the Remove ACH Form and complete and send to us.

Current Utility Rates And Fees – Latest updated July 2024

1. Late charge penalty after 15th of month -10% of current bill

2. Meter tap fees:

3/4″ – $1,550.00 includes $50.00 service charge

2″ New rates effective 02/01/2023 – $5,500.00 plus $50.00 service charge

4″ – $13,500.00 plus $50.00 service charge

6″ – $16,500.00 First unit + 100.00 Each add’l unit

3. Service charge to turn on service on property owned – $50.00

4. Service Charge on all rental property – $100.00

5. Reconnection fee for discontinued service – $50.00

6. Return check charge – $20.00

7. Water Rates – Effective July 1, 2024

a. Service Fee (supplying water to meter) – $21.00

b. Per thousand Gallons – $6.75

8. Damage to meter and other equipment to be determined by management or board of commissioners and billed to customers.

9. Water Meter Test – $100.00

10. Locks cut off meter or tampered with after meter has been locked by Shady Grove Utility District for non payment plus theft of service charge – $25.00 + $100.00
